Donald J. Sweet is a graduate of Whittier Law School where he was a member of Law Review and earned a CALI Award for Excellence in International Business Transactions. 

Since 1997 and until entering law school full time, Don worked with prudential securities as a Financial Advisor serving a client base of corporations, small business owners, trusts, non-profit organizations, and individual investors.  Don continues to serve clients as an  independent financial planner specializing in developing and executing financial plans for clients.
 

In 2003, Don learned what it takes to be a successful litigator working for the Honorable John Ryan in the Central District of California Federal Bankruptcy CourtHonorable John Ryan in the Central District of California Federal Bankruptcy Court.  In 2004, Don worked at the Long Beach City Prosecutors Office where he prosecuted over 100 bench trials.
 

Strongly committed to serving the community, Don has volunteered as a community advocate for Latino Health Access, Inc., a non-faith based community outreach organization that provides medical services to underserved members of the Latino community.  Don worked with city and state officials in an attempt to limit the number of liquor licenses in downtown Santa Ana. Don also volunteered as impromptu manager in a state senate campaign in 2004.

Don is also the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of a holding company for a franchise retail flower store in San Clemente, CA, giving him a unique perspective to understand the pressures and demands of doing business in California.  He also owns an event planning company.

Don grew up in Flagstaff, AZ and was an awarded a degree in political science by Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ in 1997 where he was also a member of the debate team.  He not only competed on the national collegiate debate circuit, but also coached high school teams, two of which won State Championship Titles under his tutelage.

Don lives in Capistrano Beach, CA with his girlfriend, Flora, and their four dogs.  He is a member of the Dana Point Yacht Club and when not in the office, can be found sailing the waters off Southern California.  Don is an avid golfer and enjoys politics and volunteering as a Block Captain in his neighborhood.
